Fly Fishing Season Opens
Threadbo – March 3rd – June 10th
Discover the lure of fly fishing in the wonderful Snowy Mountains in some of Australia’s most pristine waterways. The rivers, lakes and streams are all snow fed in and around Thredbo, enjoy the beautiful lakes of Jindabyne and Eucumbene whilst negotiating the flowing Thredbo River.
The fish are a delights in these waters: brook, brown and rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon. The scenery is spectacular, and you can enjoy your favourite sport of fly fishing in the wonderful Snowy Mountains.
Damien Leith – A Tribute To Roy Orbison
Springwood – March 11th
Singer – songwriter Damien Leith will perform hits of his idol in a special tour, commemorating 30 years since Roy Orbison was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
His repertoire will include hits such as: In Dreams, Crying, Running Scared, Pretty Woman and Blue Angel.
Damien worked with the late Barbara Orbison and continues to write with legendary musicians in Nashville that Roy previously worked with.
Six-Foot Track Marathon
Katoomba – March 11th
The Six Foot Track is a 45 kilometre trail stretching across the Blue Mountains from the Explorer’s Marked Tree, near Katoomba to Jenolan Caves. The marathon has been in existence since 1984 and follows the entire trail.
The entire race is a fundraiser for the Rural Fire Service, and Six Foot Track Heritage Trust, and it attract over 850 entrants each year.
Martha Wainwright
Lismore – March 18th
The daughter of folk legends Kate McGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III, Martha’s background in music started at a tender age, and her legendary live performances are a testament to this.
Her tour and concerts will showcase her 5th album, which has already received rave reviews. The album features her own work as well as songs written by her brother Rufus Wainwright, Beth Orton, Glen Hansard, Michael Ondaatje and Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards.
Narrandera Rod Run
Narrandera – April 15th – April 16
If you are a petrol head and you love your retro motors then The Narrandera Rod Run is a fantastic weekend to see an amazing array of beautifully restored vintage cars. It is fully expected there will be over 200 vehicles on display on this family fun weekend.
Look out for the spectacular Cruizin’ no Boozing in East Street on the Saturday night, and also the great show, Show N’ Shine in Narrandera Park on Sunday afternoon.
